Hello,

Is there a plan, or possibility to put a short sidwalk extension from the intersection of Blackberry Lane and Sunflower Way to connect with the main sidewalk in the Warren Sports complex ?
There is an opening in the fence already, and residents use the opening to go to the park, and ride bikes through as well.
The area is heavily trampled and can get very muddy after a rain. It doesn't seem like it would be a great expense to connect that area to the park, since there's already a fence opening there, implying an entrance.

Thank you,
Matthew Wheaton

Matthew,

I just wanted to follow up from my message on Tuesday regarding a possible sidewalk trail connection near the intersection of Blackberry Lane and Sunflower Way.

After visiting the site along with our Parks Superintendent, we feel that this might be a possible miscellaneous project that could be provided at the location you had mentioned in your note.

We are looking at the site and seeing what can be done to provide a connection on that end of the park to the sidewalk trail that currently exists just to the north of the existing sidewalk.

If possible, we will look to adding this section of sidewalk trail during the late winter and early spring.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me or our staff know. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland

Hi Rick,

Any chance to revive this discussion or if this one will make it into any work in that area this year ?

Mr. Wheaton,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you about this subject. To be candid with you, we lost some of our in-house expertise with concrete work over the winter and this project became delayed.

In speaking together with our staff, we are going to look at contracting this out within the next thirty days, depending on the final cost estimate.

After scheduling the project, I don't anticipate that the actual pouring of the sidewalk will take a great deal of time.

Please feel free to give me or Bobby Johnson a call this next week and we hope to be in a position to give you some completion times.

Thanks for your patience,

Matthew,

A purchase order was issued to Jim Bowman Construction Company in June to do the sidewalk installation. I spoke with them last week and they indicated it would probably be late July or early August before the work would be done. Since this is a rather small job, they wanted to coordinate it with some other work in the area.

Please feel free to contact me direct if you would like to discuss further.

Sincerely,

Bob Johnson
