The last couple of days, around 4:30pm I've observed some near accidents because of a few vehicles attempting to make a left turn to go west on Main(720) from the north bound, right hand lane of Dallas Parkway. Is this a legal turn?

Turning left onto another street must be acomplished from the far left lane unless there is signage or lane markings allowing additional turning lanes. The intersection of Dallas Parkway and Main only allows for the far left lane to turn left. Any other lane turning left would be an illegal turn.

Will there be a second left turn added to DNT anytime soon? The back-up at this intersection has increased quite a bit lately. This afternoon it was all the way to the railroad tracks...

When the Main Street construction is completed at the end of July, the striping and signage along northbound Dallas Parkway will be changed to allow a left-only lane, one lane that will be shared left, through, and right, and one right-only lane.
There is another project that is going through a state review process right now that will build u-turn lanes and an additional left-turn only lane. That project will likely be constructed sometime next summer. The project must go through the state review process because we are using federal grant money to build it.
