Recently I read that the City Counsel approved a rezoning request of a parcel of AG land just northeast of Preston and El Dorado to Industrial. Since this tract of land directly abutts a gated community of million dollar homes, did that decision really seem like the most logical use of that land along Preston? If so, what are the plans for this piece of land along Preston and the Parvin Branch of Panther Creek?

Mirko,

The property that you are asking about was rezoned to Planned Development-Industrial. This rezoning reflected the uses that are currently on the property which include a self storage facility and an office-warehouse facility. The Development Standards limit use of the property to those that are allowed in the Preston Road Overlay District as well as all of the other requirements of the overlay district.

While the zoning classification was listed as Industrial, the development standards limited the industrial uses to only the self-storage and office-warehouse facilities. No other types of industrial uses are allowed on this property. Further development or redevelopment of the site will require that the site conform with the Preston Road Overlay District requirements. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or contact me at 972.335.5580, ext. 157.
