Is there any update to when Teel will open (at least partially) North of 720? The afternoon traffic on WB 720 at Teel backs up considerably and it would greatly help if NB Teel could be opened partially before merging into the SB side.
The concrete has been poured and cured so I was wondering what the plan was. Thanks.

The contractor is placing concrete for the transition today weather permitting. The remaining work on the north side of Teel is to add guard rail, traffic signs, and buttons, replace the noise on the south side of Main, move the traffic heads and clean up. I feel with good weather this should be opened south of the bridge in two or three weeks.

There seems to be very little left to do, yet today (Friday, Feb. 25th), there was no visible construction activity going on at this very crowded intersection. Does the contractor have any accountability for completing this project by a certain date? They have removed the trash dumpster from the site, and it looks really clean. I don't understand why it's not open yet, and even moreso, why there is no one working on it today!?!

You are correct that there is not much work remaining before the lanes are open. The remaining work is on the north side of Teel is to add guard rail, traffic signs, and buttons, and replace the south side noise.

I am sorry, with this construction we had to redo the south median nose.

Under planning, the city states that Teel Parkway will soon be a 4 lane street with a further expansion to 6 lanes. There is too much traffic on Teel now and 6 lanes will just increase traffic thru a residental area. Is there a time frame to expand to 6 lanes?

Shirley,

We do not have a timeframe established for expanding Teel to 6 lanes. It will occur when volumes reach higher levels and when funding is available.

Teel is classified as a major thoroughfare on the thoroughfare plan. Those types of roadways can be expanded to 6 lanes when necessary. They are intended to carry significant traffic volumes from one region of the city to another.

You can use the following link to view our thoroughfare plan.
