I spoke with Sanet (Sanet Garrett, Parks and Rec. Dept.)yesterday and was given the following information regarding the Hike & Bike trail in the Hunter's Creek neighborhood between Independence & Custer. I would like to have someone confirm this information is valid.

- Construction will begin in about 6 weeks and will be complete in about 9 months.
- The land west of the creek will be seeded for sod and will be mowed on a regular basis.
- Nothing will be planted in regards to trees or shrubs.
- The trail will be wide enough to accomodate for bikers.
- The trail will weave throughout, crossing the creek, but will mostly reside on the west side of the creek.
- Some trees lining the creek will be cleared for safety reasons.

Is this information valid and complete? Thank you.

Erica,

I have asked Parks and Rec to review what you heard and what you wrote is mostly correct with the following corrections:

Some trees and shrubs will be planted at the trail-head and in a few strategic locations where the trail is close to residents,

The reference to 'sod' is incorrect, the area referenced will be hydro-mulched.

Erica,

I just wanted to follow up from Curt's reply to you regarding the hike and bike trail that will be developed in the Hunters Creek development area.

As he had mentioned, the information that you had received from our Administrative Secretary was correct with the small correction of the comments about some trees and shrubs being planted at the trail head and few locations where the trail is close to residents.

Should you have any further questions regarding this project or others, please feel free to contact me or our staff and we will get back to you directly.

Sincerely,

I was told work would begin on the hike & bike trail in mid-July. Now that August is almost here I'm just wondering when the trail work will actually begin.

Dear Erica1m,

Thanks for your note regarding the West Rowlett Hike and Bike Trail development. In terms of where the contractor is on this job, I would offer the following.

Many of the initial work elements that have to take place on a construction job such as this are already in place or are in progress. This would include surveying of the property that will have the trail along it, initial staking for the trail alignments and the mobilization of equipment to the job site.

Our staff will be working with the contractor to finalize staking of the trail within the next couple of weeks and I anticipate that you will see actual grading work to begin within the next three weeks, once initial alignment has taken place.

Should you have any additional questions regarding this trail project, please feel free to contact me or Dudley Raymond at the following contact numbers.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland
