When the city mows the roadway medians, how often are the curb lines either edged or trimmed? The Hillcrest and College medians look horrible. Weeds and grass have grown over the edges and down into the gutters. When will this be corrected?

Mr. Smith,

We typically trim and edge all of our medians on a weekly basis. This is in sync with mowing that takes place along these medians.

In regard to mowing of the medians, we are trying to catch up mowing throughout the city due to the heavy amount of rainfall that took place within the past couple of weeks.

In regard to our median edging and curb dressing programming, we have just begun to edge all of the medians within the city and should be caught up within the next 2-3 weeks.

You may not be aware of this, but in late March, we had one of our personnel injured and the curb dressing equipment damaged when struck by a motorist. I am sure you will share our relief that our staff member is now back to duty on a light duty basis and we have just received our new replacement curb dressing equipment for use.

The medians you identified should be addressed within the next week or so.

Sincerely,

How is the progress of the trimming of the medians and outside edging of the roads ... seems still far behind and it looks very bad.

Dear Brian,

Thanks for your note. Our progress has been slow but steady and I anticipate that we will be back on schedule within the next week or so.

Given that we experienced the second highest rainfall total for the month of June in the state's recorded history and had staff working on our Freedom Fest this past weekend, I believe that we have held our own.

I believe that you should see a marked improvement during the course of this week and next.

Should you have any questions regarding our current schedule, please feel free to let us know.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland

Just one more questions, sorry. Who is responsible for undeveloped lots?

-For example, south of Warren on Hillcrest.
-Many lots on Preston.

These 4-6 ft off the street areas are mowed by the city and recently mowed, the medians near these areas are edged but the property lines are not edged. We already have expressed concern over the appearance but isn't Preston the most viewed area and should be edged first?
