We have not considered changing the striping to create the right-turn lane. It is something that we will analyze once we have some new count information. The cost to modify the existing striping and make changes to the recently bid signal plans will also have to be considered. Since the new Eldorado overpass east of this intersection opens in early 2005, I expect the westbound left-turn lane will be necessary and the striping would have to be changed back.
Constructing a new right-turn lane at this time would be very costly due to drainage improvements needed. The costs would be spent for a relatively short period of benefit considering they would be destroyed through the construction of the DNT extension to Eldorado. The DNT extension does include some improvements to Eldorado itself as well as the addition of the southbound frontage road. This work could start within the next 18 to 24 months.
