I appreciate your inquiry regarding street lights along Hillcrest Road and can assure you that there are long range plans to provide street lighting along Hillcrest Road. In the current budget year there are no funds allocated for street lighting along Hillcrest Road but staff is working through next years budget planning process to include street lighting funds for some of the major roadways within the City that do not have existing street lights. Once funds become budgeted for these projects, the roadways will be prioritized and street lights installed. As part of this program, it is anticipated that Hillcrest, from SH 121 to FM 3537, will be one of the first five streets to have street lights installed. At this time I cannot give you a definite time frame on when this installation will occur. Please feel free to contact me at (972) 335-5580 ext. 194 if you wish to discuss further. Thanks for your inquiry regarding the irrigation on the Hillcrest medians. Each year the Parks Department submits a list of possible medians to develop to the Engineering Department for review. This is done so they can provide us with information regarding past, present, and future construction issues that might restrict or delay development. A final decision is based on that information.
Actually, the Hillcrest medians were on the list I submitted for the FY03-04 budget. However, after discussion and review with the Engineering Department, it was decided that because of the density of utility lines in these medians, for liability reasons, it would be in the best interest of the City to outsource these medians to a private contractor. At this time no decision has been made on when that might occur. I plan on re-submitting these medians for the next budget year and will be discussing it with the Engineering Department. Funding will be an important factor in determining how much, if any, of this stretch of medians can be outsourced to a private contractor during the next budget year.
If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me at 972-335-5517.
