How do I initiate a variance request for residential property?

Also, can anyone provide me with a brief summary of the variance request process with the Planning Department and Variance Board?

Thanks,
Jeff Dombrosky

Mr. Dombrosky,

In order to initiate a variance request an applicant must complete an application form detailing the need for a variance and providing additional information about the request.

Once staff receives a completed application, the request is scheduled for the next available Board of Adjustment meeting that complies with the appropriate public hearing notice requirements. At the Board meeting the applicant presents the request. The Board reviews the application and the information provided and acts to approve or deny an application. This process takes approximately 4-6 weeks depending upon when application is made and when meetings are scheduled.

If you should have any questions please feel free to email me at singalls@friscotexas.gov or call me at 972.335.5540, ext. 142.
