Let me be quite clear in what I'm asking about. I live in a neighborhood that was established in the 1980's. It's my understanding that at the time the neighborhood was built, it was up to the builder to install a sidewalk. It was not required. In the surrounding 4-block area, there are sidewalks in front of some houses and not others. On my side of the street, ours is the only house that doesn't have a sidewalk.
If I wanted to install a sidewalk, how do I get a permit and how do I find out the required specifications and layout of the sidewalk (if there are any)? I live on a corner lot. Is it a requirement to have a sidewalk on both front and side of a corner lot?
Thank you for your help.

Sidewalk permit applications are available at Planning and Development located at 6859 Main Street. Specifications and a layout detail are available. If you were building a new house today, you would be required to install a sidewalk on both streets. In this instance, the Building Offical will take a common sense approach to work out the problem. If you have other questions, my phone number is 972-335-5580 ext152. Thanks for your inquiry.
