Hi,
Does the city prohibit the planting of Crepe Myrtles or shrubs between the street and side walk? Is this area reserved for utilities?

Thx,
mw

Anonymous,

This area is City Right-Of-Way and is used for utilities. The City does not allow plantings in these area because these planting can interfere with visibility of motorist at intersecting streets or drives and these plants can interfere with the utilities or the maintenance of utilities in this area.

Please contact me at (972) 335-5540 Ext 159. if you have any additional questions.

Is there another number/dept. to call regarding this issue in a residential neighborhood, in particular on a corner lot? I am in this situation when my home was constructed 18 months ago. The builder assured us this was not an issue w/the city as we 'owned' the lot, but that if the city needed to remove a shrub, we would have to replace it.
