Are there any plans to establish mountain bike trails within Frisco? McKinney has done a nice job with Erwin Park.

Thank you for your message regarding the establishment of a mountain bike trail such as the one that has been developed at Erwin Park, in McKinney.
I agree that the mountain bike trail at Erwin Park is an excellent one. That particular park has approximately 8 miles of trails that can be found within its borders.
The development of a larger, more passive regional park site would likely be the most appropriate for this type of activity. While we do not have a current park that has this amount of trails found, we are looking for potential properties in which we can incorporate some natural trails similar to those you have indicated.
We are discussing some possibilities with the Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association (DORBA) for potential development at our Southwest Community Park. This would be a volunteer project that would help to establish some trails at this park prior to full development of this community park.
We will finalizing some fall work dates with DORBA over the next several weeks. Once a work date has been decided upon, we will provide additional publicity on this to encourage support.
Please feel free to contact me or Dudley Raymond regarding this for additional information.

Has there been any progress on this since June? I would be interested in helping out to make this happen, so how can I get involved?

We are currently working on an agreement between the City and DORBA for this trail. They are starting to do some preliminary planning efforts. They have asked, and there experience is that it is better to wait to announce the project until it is nearing completion. This is to minimize riders on the trail prior to its construction.
If you would call or give us some contact information we will try to get you involved in the project.
