I understand that the city ordinance on the times that construction crews can work at homes or street sites is 7:00am-10:00pm. Is this everyday or only Monday through Friday; Summer time or year-round? I think 10:00pm is really too late; other cities have the cut off time at 6:00pm--even 8:00pm would be more reasonable. I should be able to sit out on my back porch and relax without hearing that beeping noice when construction equipment is backing up. I know I'm not the only homeowner out there that is bothered by this. Who would I need to talk to and how can I go about getting this ordinance amended? I will check back later. Thanks!!

Ordinance #97-04-13 outlines a per se noise violation if construction noise, among other types of noise, occurs between 10pm and 7am, seven days per week. I looked around at our surrounding cities ordinances and it seems this is typical among them.
Any change to the ordinance would require Council approval. Our City Secretary could possibly assist you with that process. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Noise is certainly a by product of a growing city. I wondered if this was an occasional problem or an on-going one? If it is ongoing, the builder may be open to changing the hours or alleviating the noise somehow. Just a thought.
