Since Friday, a contractor for the North Texas Tollway Authority has been conducting surveys along many of our roadways. The contractor hired off-duty police officers and paid the city for the use of the police vehicles. The officers were hired to ensure safety as well as communicate that the survey was legitimate.

The contractor set up cones and temporary stop signs on Preston Road this past Friday, which was inconsistent with my understanding of their methodology. Several motorists were upset that traffic was impeded on Friday afternoon. Once notified, I contacted the supervisor, in Connecticut, and was assured that this method would not be repeated on busy roadways. Instead, they will use the cycling of lights to deliver the survey.

The survey is an important component in determining the course of mobility in our area. We hope that you will take the time to complete the survey and we appreciate your patience.
