I recognize that in the big scheme of things, this may seem trivial, however, I would like for someone to give consideration to future holiday trash schedules. It seems silly that during one of the busiest times of the year for trash (Christmas - New Year's) we have to go 11 days between trash pick up. I live in an area that is serviced on Tuesday and due to the holiday, our trash pick up day was moved to Sat. So the trash was picked up on Sat the 29th and will not be picked up again until Tues the 8th. One drive down the ally will show what a problem this is. Just about every can is over-flowing - even those folks with 2 cans. In fact, once the trash is finally picked up, I have at least another whole trashcan worth in my garage!
I appreciate this forum and would like to offer a solution rather than just point out problems. I would suggest working with the sanitation contractor to add pick up dates at strategic times during the year when the holiday creates this type of problem. For example, in the case with this past holiday season, could we not have added an additional pick up on Sat the 5th of Jan? I realize this would be an added expense, but the few times during the year that this happens would seem to justify the additional cost.

First let me thank you for writing in and say that this is by no means a "trivial" question!
We orignially implemented the Holiday schedule so that only the day of the Holiday would be affected, and not the whole week, but because of the very issues that you bring up, we have chosen this year to begin simply pushing the collection days back one day for the few Holidays that we have. Under the new schedule customers that are regulalry scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, for instance, would have their trash picked up that Friday, and those regularly scheduled for that Friday would be picked up on Saturday. This way there will not be any instance when there are more than eight days between collections.
Thanks again, and remember, it is from these sorts of "trivial" matters that we are able to increase our service level to better meet your expectations.
