I see that today the crosswalk lines are being replaced at Hillcrest and Ohio. It seems like this is the third or fourth time these lines have been redone in the last year or two. Is there a more efficient and longer lasting way to mark the crosswalk?

Markings were recently updated at the intersection. Our records show city forces last updated the intersection in April 2005. In fall 2005, there were some minor changes to the markings because the traffic signal was turned on. Since those markings were installed, we have acquired some new equipment that allows us to install pavement markings that should last longer. These new type of markings should last about 2 to 3 years. There are some longer lasting and more expensive types of pavement markings available, but they aren't typically installed at intersections because of the wear and tear of vehicles turning and stopping.
