Is there anything that can be done with the unsolicited mass littering campaign being waged by the Dallas Morning News via "Frisco Neighbors"? Papers are thrown in yards, streets, sidewalks, wherever the wind blows.

I have personally tried everything I know to get the real world "spam" stopped at my home, not that that would solve the problem with the rest of the neighborhood. Nothing works...they simply do not have or at least do not honor a "no throw" list.

Are there any legal avenues for me.

We have already posed the question to the City Attorney’s Office. Does the unsolicited distribution of “Frisco Neighbors” or other similar publications violate the city’s solicitation ordinance? After review, they advised that since the publication is either bound with rubber bands or placed in plastic bags it does not violate the ordinance. The definition of handbill does not routinely apply to newspaper publications.

My suggestion would be to continue to contact the publisher and ask them to stop throwing them at your house. We have had similar complaints in the past. I would imagine if enough citizens called the publisher to complain, maybe the practice could be curtailed.
