In the mornings I travel eastbound on Eldorado and take a right on the DNT to go south for work. This lane backs up quite a bit in the morning and I was curious if there was going to be another lane added for turning, similar to what is done at Main/DNT, where the far right lane that goes straight is turned into a turn lane during rush hour.

Currently, it is not possible to provide two lanes turning right onto Dallas Parkway at this intersection because there are only two lanes on the frontage road. There would need to be three lanes on the frontage road in order to accept dual right turns because we need to provide a certain turning radius for each lane (because of trucks and other large vehicles).

At some point in the future, a third lane will be added to the frontage road and then we can consider providing dual right turn lanes at that time.

I am not too worried about traffic becoming backed up at this intersection in the mornings. However, I am worried about the many vehicles that don't wait in the line to turn, drive to the front of the line, and turn right in the non-turn lane. I have come very close to being hit or hitting someone else because of this. I understand if someone wants to try and get in line towards the front, but these people that turn right onto the access road are creating dangerous situations. I understand there is little that can be done about this, but maybe if a police office could somehow monitor this intersection one or two mornings per week, maybe it would reduce the number of times this happens?

This is a heavily travelled route during morning rush hour. Our Traffic Unit, as well as patrol officers are aware of the congestion in the area. I will pass your request for additional police on to the appropriate personnel for additional monitoring.
