I see that we are not supposed to put shredded paper in the blue recycling bins. Is that just loose or even if they are contained in a trash bag separated from everything else? Is there anywhere else we can recycle shredded paper so it doesn't go to waste?

The contents of your blue cart are taken to CWD's (our residential service providers) material recovery facility for sorting and processing. The facility is fully automated and apparently the shredded paper causes problems with the machinery. CWD does not encourage recycling of this material due to this fact. The city's contract does not omit this product from the list of acceptable items. To help CWD I would ask that you would place the shredded paper in a brown bag before placing in the cart. If you prefer you are welcome to drop it off at our recycling center, 6616 Walnut street. Hope this answers your question and thanks for recycling.
