I am wondering what the plan is for water resources going forward. Every year we have mandatory restrictions and every year we see the lake levels drop. I understand that it is in the plan for Frisco to roughly double in population over the next several years. This will, of course, bring in a corresponding increase in the number of businesses operating in Frisco. All of this growth is going to require water (all utilities ... but water is the concern). Is there a plan to add or acquire additional sources of water? If not, is there a plan on how to make the current sources last better (short of paving over all the green spaces).

Thank you

Christopher:

The City of Frisco is a member city of the North Texas Municipal Water District. The District was created by the state legislature in the 1950's. The District is required by law to provide, plan, and deliver all water necessary to all 13 member cities indefinitely. Currently, the District provides water to about 1.6 million people in the north Texas area and has water planning completed through the year 2060 including all future growth for the City of Frisco. The State of Texas approval for new supplies is contingent on the success of our water conservation programs. If you have additional questions, please contact my office at 972-292-5800. Thanks.
