Do you know of any plans to build a connector between 121 and the DNT?
NTTA.org says nothing about it, but in reading the historical files on here, you mention that they are planning on it.
I find it kind of ridiculous to have to go thru three lights from exiting SB 121 at the mall to finally be able to get on DNT south.

I'm told this is Plano's responsibility, but I know many, MANY Frisco residents are bothered by the erratic short-cycling of the lights at 121 and Coit (sometimes it does it for 3-4 cycles in a row, then it wont do it for many cycles).
Could you please send someone there to check the light cycle (even if you can only do the SB coit light)?

1. Yes, NTTA is going to build a full interchange at SH121 & DNT which will include direct-connect ramps in all directions so you can travel from one tollway to the other without exiting to the frontage roads. Construction is expected to start by the beginning of 2010 and is expected to be completed in December 2011.

2. While it appears that there are two traffic signals at each intersection along SH 121, both sides are actually operated together as one set of traffic signals. So there is no separate "SB Coit light." All of the traffic signals along SH 121 are controlled and operated by the City of Plano. We cannot respond to issues at those traffic signals, but our experience is that Plano has been responsive to questions from motorists. Please contact the Plano Engineering Department at 972-941-7151.

When you contact Plano, describe the specific time you are witnessing the issue, which will make it easier for them to check it. Also, it may not actually be "short cycling", so you should describe specifically what you are experiencing. It could be a vehicle detection problem, or perhaps they are operating the traffic signal that way on purpose to handle the non-stop traffic from the SH 121 offramp at different times of the day.
