The intersection of Main/Kyser is very close to the Legacy/Main street and Teel/Mainstreet intersections but the timimg of those lights and traffic patterns make making a turn onto main from kyser or YMCA/church very difficult particularly during peak hours.

Is it in the plans to put signal lights at this location ?

We have general plans to add a traffic signal on Main Street between Teel Parkway and Legacy Drive sometime in the future. Traffic signals work best for coordination and progression when spaced a certain distance apart, and so we have been looking at Majestic Gardens as the likely candidate as soon as conflicting traffic volumes reach a certain threshold. With the opening of the YMCA, the Kyser Way intersection has become a contender as well.

We maintain a priority list of intersections across the City considered for a traffic signal based on total traffic volumes and the analysis of conflicting movements. We then assign our limited funding to the top priority locations. Majestic Gardens did not rank at the top of this list in the past couple years.

We are still in the process of recalculating the City-wide priority list for 2008, with updated traffic counts that have been collected recently across the City. The Majestic Gardens intersection will remain on the list and the Kyser Way intersection will be added to the list, and we will consider them in terms of their priority and our funding.

Whether an uncontrolled intersection is a candidate for a traffic signal or not, it may be necessary for motorists to take an alternative route during rush hours instead of making a left-turn. (This is common on major arterials throughout the Metroplex.) Motorists can turn right instead of left, or they might also use connecting streets to turn out onto Teel Parkway or Legacy Drive instead of Main Street.

We do have general plans to add a traffic signal to the intersection of Teel Parkway and Timber Ridge Drive sometime in the future. This intersection was not in the top 20 on the priority list for 2007. This is largely due to the fact that Teel Parkway at this location has a much smaller traffic volume than other arterials in the City. We are still in the process of updating the 2008 priority list, but I would not expect it to be at the top of the list.

However, because of the congestion experienced on Timber Ridge during school drop off and pick up times (and other reasons), we have been planning to install a 4-way stop at this intersection. It should be installed in the next two weeks.
