I was curious what the orange flags throughout our greenbelt were for? Do they have to do with the playground and/or sidewalk that were slated to go in this summer? Is that still the schedule?
Thank you!

Kristin,

Thanks for your note regarding the survey flags and stakes that are found along the greenbelt.

These elements are found throughout the project area that ties the Beavers Bend neighborhood park through the Stewart Creek HOA area to the B.F. Phillips Community Park site.

These orange flags represent survey stakes for grading and placement of the trail along the greenbelt behind Stewart Creek and Heritage Green.

The contractor has begun this project and we do expect that the construction activity along the greenbelt to take place during the summer and likely into the fall. That would also include the installation of the playground system scheduled to be included here.

If I can be of any further assistance regarding this, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Sincerely,

John Doshier

Rick - on the BF Phillips Master Plan there is a trail running under Lebanon that says hike/bike trail to Lake Lewisville. Is there a realistic timeline it might be built? That would be a real enhancement for those of us in West Frisco. Thank you for your response

Sean,

Thanks for the note and interest in the hike and bike trail that would ultimately lead from the B.F. Phillips Community Park to Lake Lewisville.

As you might know, the land between the community park and the lake is actually owned by the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

We have been in discussion with them over the past several years about developing a trail along this area that would lead into the Lake property.

While they are in agreement in principal for this project, it will be necessary to wait on the development of this project until such time as Federal funding for the project is approved.

Unfortunately, the US Corps of Engineers cannot project when that funding will be allocated for the project. We continue to stay in contact with them and are hopeful that funding for the project will occur over the next couple of years.

Feel free to let me know if you should have any additional questions regarding this and we will be happy to provide any updates that might be available.

Thanks again for your note.

Could you share where exactly this proposed trail would run?

Esa,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you about the question that you posed about the location of the trail we are hopeful to partner with the US Army Corps of Engineers.

In terms of knowing the exact location of the trail, that will be something that will be reviewed and approved by the Corps of Engineers before we will know for sure.

For general purposes, the trail will be located along property owned and controlled by the Corps of Engineers south of Lebanon Road, primarily west of Fourth Army Memorial Road leading to Lake Lewisville.

We continue to work with the Corps to keep the proposed project on their radar and hope to seek any other potential ways we can work together to make the project work over the next several months.

Please feel free to contact us should you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

It seems that the construction crews are now filling in the holes that were dug in the greenbelt. What step is this? Also, will there be a sidewalk from the main trail to the east end of Stewart Creek Estates (the corner of Shamrock and Refugio). I remember seeing flags, but there has been no activity since. Thanks so much for your response.

Kristin,

The contractor made a mistake and dug too deep for the sidewalk. So they are correcting that error. Yes, there will be a connecting walk to Shamrock and Refugio.

The contractor has had some internal personnel issues that have caused the project to delay. We are in communication with them and are preparing to take the necessary measures if we need to fire the contractor and hire a new one. Hopefully these issues will work out in the next day or so and they will start making good progress once the rain clears out.

Thank you
Dudley Raymond
