The concrete in this section of Main is settling getting very uneven. It feels as though you are driving down steps. Has this been reported previously? What is the process for road improvement for settling of this type? How bad does it have to get before it gets repaired? Also, are there any new methods for repairing roadways without ripping them up and starting over - like was what was done on Teel last year?

We are aware of this pavement problem. There are really only two options for repair…a temporary asphalt overlay or remove and replace. There are other options available; however, we have found that, in general, they are not cost effective. This area was scheduled for remove/replace, but we have asked our road crews to hold off for now. We are concerned with the traffic congestion that would result from closing a lane on Main Street for a week to 10 days to complete the repair. There is not really a good alternate route. We anticipate Stonebrook Parkway opening to traffic in April. At that time, we may be able to close a lane on Main Street and provide a better alternate route. I believe our Public Works Department is going to overlay with asphalt as a temporary fix for the uneven pavement until April.

Thanks. Anything to improve that section of Main will help. Would something like this http://www.betterroads.com/superthin-concrete-overlays/ provide a better long-term solution?

What are the plans to widen Main to 3 lanes each way?
Also, what is the delay on Stonebrook? The last I heard it was going to open in November, then January, no April?!?

With the PUC proposal to put power lines down either Main or Stonebrook in the future, can Frisco accelerate plans to widen Main to three lanes each way? Main is already overcrowded during rush hour and if it is permanently restricted to two lanes each way, it will only become worse. Additionally, if main and/or stonebrook are slated to be widened anyway, is it possible to partner with the PUC to bury the power lines simultaneously. If the roads are going to be dug up anyway, why not take the added step of burying the lines underneath in the process?

Yes, the city has already engaged several consultants to work together with Brazos Electrical in order to identify cost savings and commuter convenience / limited construction interruptions by coordinating all aspects of this work.
