What is the status on developing Heritage Green Park? Has the master planned changed?

Dear Bking,

Thanks for your note regarding the current status of Beavers Bend Park (formally known as Heritage Green Park) and its master plan.

In answer to your question on the master plan, no, the master plan continues to be as it was when approved in 2003. This master plan can be found at http://www.friscotexas.gov/parks_rec/pdf/Heritage_Green_Park_MP.pdf

Development of this neighborhood park will begin taking place within the next thirty days. Once construction has begun, it will continue for a period of about 8-10 months.

Should you have any additional questions about Beavers Bend Park or others, please let me or our staff know.

Thanks again for your interest,

Rick,
I went to the above link & looked at the Heritage Green Park Master Plan. I am having a hard time reading the details/fine print. I zoom & still cannot read. I also printed out, no luck. I can see & understand the general layout, I just cannot read the details, any sugestions?
Thanks,
Randall Warren

Randall,

Thanks for your note. After looking at the graphic, I would agree with you that clarity leaves a little bit to be desired.

I will ask our staff to contact the consultant and see if we can get a clearer picture of this for the web site.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact our office and speak to Dudley Raymond (972-335-5517), who is our Parks Planning and Capital Projects Superintendent. Dudley should be in a position to either give you a hard copy of this or show you the plan personally.

I apologize for the problem.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland

Will the Beaver Bend Master Plan be accessible again? It seems the link is no longer available in this thread nor on the Parks Master Plan area of the website.

Mrs. Woodruff,

The City has posted a new image of the master plan that is at a higher resolution. Apparently the link to the new image is bad. I will try to have it repaired in the next day or so and then you can view the image.

The contractor has begun work and will start construction of the grading and flatwork very soon. The park should be completed in 6 months or so. There will be a little bit of a gap and then grass will be established once temperatures are warm enough for seed germination.

Is their going to be any lighting in the park? Specifically, by the trails within the park, I am an avid jogger and would like to jog at dusk/night with my dog. Is this in the proposed plans for the park? Also, where is parking located? Will the entrance for autos be on Legacy? (According to the master plan, it appears the autos entrance would be legacy)
Thank You

Bking,

There will be some security lighting in the park. These lights will primarily be at the parking area, playground and the pavilion. This is in an attempt to protect these items against less than desirable actions. The trail will not be lighted. The park as well as all of the neighborhood parks in Frisco has a curfew from dusk till dawn and are not to be used at night.

The parking lot will be located off of Legacy Drive.

I hope this answers your question

Parks Planning and CIP Superintendent

Thanks for the response. By the way, with the entrance to the park with parking lot will be located on legacy, will their be a traffic signal w/ crosswalk near Legacy & chippewa? I have a feeling many kids will be attempting to cross over the now very busy legacy drive

Bking,

Although the City tries to locate neighborhood parks interior to the bounds of major thoroughfares it is not always possible. The City has several parks where residents are required to cross a major thoroughfare to access the park serving that neighborhood. People will need to exercise caution while crossing the street.

At some point in the future there will likely be a traffic signal at the intersection of Legacy and Academy or Legacy and Chippewa. Due to the short distance between these intersections, it is unlikely there will be a signal at each intersection. At this time, a signal has not been warranted for either intersection.
