How does the city determine if a street needs speed bumps? Can the local residents request road bumps for safety before an accident occurs? We have a long straightaway that passes a playground/pool area and there are often cars that use this for a drag strip.

Speed humps are not used on residential streets in Frisco because they can increase the response time of emergency vehicles by an average of 9 to 15 seconds per hump.

Please contact Kim Dalton in our office at 972-335-5585 ext 134 to give her the information regarding the location you are describing. We will then monitor the area to see if additional traffic control devices are appropriate.
