Can you tell me where I can find information on the new facility that is currently being built between Custer and Coit? I see what appears to be 4 softball/baseball field, and was just wanting to know where I can get more information.

Also, what is the name of this facility?

Thanks!

Mike,

Thanks for your inquiry about the Southeast Community Park site that is currently undergoing its first phase of development.

Southeast Community Park is approximately 79 acres in size and was acquired by the Frisco Community Development Corporation in 2001. The park was master planned in 2002 and construction began on the park in late summer of this year.

Included within its development will be the construction of five baseball/softball fields, including a unique ballfield that will resemble Fenway Park along with a connecting concession and restroom facility built in this same fashion; eight soccer/football fields; initial parking and landscaping for the first phase. This first phase of work has a value of over $5.0 million dollars and includes a partnership with the Texas Rangers for the baseball field resembling Fenway Park.

When completed in the late fall of 2005, this community park will serve the entire community with its activities and events.

If you would like more information about the park, you are welcome to contact me or our staff at 972-335-5517 or visiting our web site at http://www.friscotexas.gov/P_R/parks/parks_southeast.htm as well as http://www.friscotexas.gov/P_R/images/masterplans/Southeast_masterplan.pdf for a description of the park and view of the total master plan for the park.

Thanks for your interest.

Sincerely,

In a previous Frisco electronic newsletter, there was a mention of a "Grand Park" 600+ acres being reviewed west of N. Dallas parkway and North of Main. Do you have any further information on this proposal?

Neighbor,

Thanks for your note regarding a possible regional park in the community.

As you may be aware, the Urban Land Institute has recently been retained to examine a study area for potential uses and development in the area near and west of the North Dallas Tollway and along the Stewart Creek system as it moves to the south and west.

The ULI group will be coming to the City during January 9-13, 2005 to visit the site and develop the study document over a period of 6 days. This will include interviewing property owners, potential users in the area, city officials and staff members, etc. during this time.

Examining the potential of a regional park along this area will be a key point in this study along with other potential land uses, etc.

For more information regarding the Urban Land Institute study, please feel free to contact me or John Lettelleir, who is the Director of Planning for the City. John can be contacted by calling 972-335-5580 ext. 107 or through his e-mail at jlettelleir@ci.frisco.tx.us

Thanks for your interest.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland
