If two cars are parked on the street across from each other it is very difficult to get through. Emergency vehicles such at Fire Trucks potentially cannot get through.

What is the cities liability if there are cars parked on the street, and the fire trucks cannot get through.

Charlie,

I apologize for the delay in posting your message.

First and foremost it is important to stress that emergency vehicles will seek every option to complete their emergency run.

To your question of liability...I am not an attorney and the city does not answer hypothetical legal questions. The city is not in a position to monitor every street at all times to ensure that all vehicles are parked in such a way as to allow clear passage. If you are aware of a circumstance where vehicles routinely park inappropriately or where oversized vehicles restrict clear passage, please advise the police department at the non-emergency number, (972) 335-5502.
