Is there a height requirement on storm drain inlets before they are required to have protective devices installed. Several in my neighborhood allow kids to enter the drain system.

The height of all curb inlet openings within the City is 6". We do not allow the placing of any restrictive devices in front of the openings because they collect debris and prevent the inlet from taking in storm water. This inlet design and contruction is standard in the metroplex.

If you have specific streets or inlets that are of concern, please feel free to contact me directly and we will make sure the inlets meet our standards.
