I drive on Stonebrook frequently, and I've had many near-wrecks because there are a few spots where people make left turns at an opening in the median where there isn't a turn lane. One of these spots in when you are coming East, and people turn into the Post Office. There is not a left turn lane there, so they use the left lane to turn from.
Another, more problematic spot is when you're traveling West, and people make a left turn where the Enclave is. This is more of a problem because the West-bound side only has two lanes, and I've been in situations where there was no time to react because the people come to a dead stop in the left lane, waiting for traffic to slow down to make their left turn without having a turn lane. Is this legal? If it is legal to make a left turn, across oncoming traffic, and blocking the traffic behind you, then can the city look at intersections like this and see if it can be changed? Thanks for taking the time.

Thanks for the questions.

The westbound left-turn lane on Stonebrook at Woodstream will be constructed when development occurs in the southwest corner of the intersection. We have recently met with the developer at this location and are expecting that plans will be submitted in the near future. We do not have a time line for construction on this project at this time.

Near the post office, we are looking at different turn lane designs. There are some design issues we are currently trying to work through. Once a design is complete, we will be working to add this left-turn lane.

to add another interection, could you clarify the proper lane usage for northbound Dallas Parkway at Main Street? I have seen vehicles turn left from the center lane, and vehicles go straight from the left lane. There are no signs indicating
proper lane usage.

State law dictates that drivers are to turn left from the left most lane and turn right from the right most lane (Section 545.101 Turning at Intersection).

Presently, the left most lane can be used by left-turn vehicles as well as through vehicles. It is implied that through vehicles can use this lane because there is a through lane north of Main that can receive through vehicles from the left most lane and there is not a sign that prohibits a through movement from the left most lane. The right most lane, which is an exclusive right turn lane, is for right turn movements only. The right turn lane is not signed because drivers must physically change lanes to use the turn lane and we are not entrapping through vehicles. The center lane is for through movements only.

We will review our accident data and observe the location. If necessary, we will add lane assignment information.
