Whatever happened to the study that was commissioned and paid for by the city? It seems that the effort to move the city into the new millenium by bridging the telecommunications gap or as it is commonly referred by "The Digital Divide", has stalled. Funny that as a member of a volunteer committee, I was not asked to be present when it was presented to council or even asked if it made sense.

Just wondering if we "the taxpayers", got return on our investment?

The Information Technology Master Plan was presented to the City Council at an evening work session in early January. The effort has not 'stalled'. The ITMP provides numerous practical alternatives for the City. A primary recommendation of the ITMP is the hiring of a 'Chief Technology Officer' or Director of Information Technology to manage technology planning and services for the City. That recommendation has been pursued. Over the last two months we reviewed nearly 900 resumes for this position and after several screening steps we are proceding to the interview stage next week. The Director of Information Technology will use the ITMP as a guide for the implementation and management of technical services for the City.
