I was saddened to hear of fire damage at Friendship Park (read about it on FOL). I have not seen the site yet but will drive by today.
I was involved in the original construction and would like to participate in the rebuilding. Several others from FOL have indicated interest.
How can the city staff and citizens work together to make this park available again?
Thanks, Tom Kendrick

Hi Tom,

We are all saddened and shocked by this senseless act. We are so grateful for the large amount of generous offers of help we have been receiving and the City will be formulating a plan of action here in the next couple of days. We will be sure to let you and others know how to get involved at that point.

Does the city have insurance coverage that will cover the monetary aspect of this loss? Obviously, the emotional investment cannot be even measured, let alone recouped.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your comments and question regarding the Friendship Playground and the monetary aspect of replacing the playground.

In answer to your question, yes, the City does have insurance coverage of all of its capital assets, of which this playground was included.

We are currently working with our insurance carrier as well as the original architect of this playground to help asess the damage and replacement cost for this loss.

I am also working with leaders of the Leadership Frisco Class that originally took on this community project and they are looking forward to bringing the playground back to whole once more.

We will be providing more details on potential times and how the public can be involved in reconstructing Friendship Playground.

I know that the community spirit that helped to construct this playground in 1999 will be back to help us accomplish our goal now.

Should you or anyone have any questions regarding how to help in the reconstruction, please feel free to let me know. We have already received many telephone calls and e-mails regarding this and anticipate many more to come.
