I saw on channel 6 several months back that Stonebrook was going to be one of the first roads to get some landscaping. Im not trying to rush the issue just wondering the status on the project. While im on it maybe Preston also, I know it costs a lot of money to do this and there are more important things rather than some flowers and trees just wondering. Thank You

I don't know if anyone has seen the wild flower displays in Richardson. They seed many of their medians and along the major roads and the display is beautiful. I think that when Hillcrest is finished it would be a wonderful place for a wildflower display. What would it take to do this?

You are correct, we have identified several roadways to start our median beautification project on. Of course, this would be just the start. I know Hillcrest was another road identified. Someone from staff can give us a time-line.

I am not sure of what the report on Channel 6 indicated exactly. There was discussion of improving the median along Stonebrook but it was determined that it would be better to wait to do these landscape improvements until the third west bound lane is added. This will eliminate the median improvements being disturbed during the roadway construction.

The City is currently purchasing equipment and allocating personnel to serve on a median construction crew to install the landscaping improvements in the medians rather than contracting with a contractor. This will reduce the cost and help stretch the funding available for these improvements.

Council approved Hillcrest from S.H. 121 to College Parkway as the first median and the second will be Main street west of the toll road.

What is the time line for the new lane going in on Stonebrook?

I am happy to hear about Hillcrest. Thank you. What about Ohio, what are the plans there. I think we really need to keep the areas near 121 looking good as those are scene daily by visitors and travelers.

Anonymous and Brian

There is currently no funding identified for the third lane on Stonebrook, therefore, there is not a definite schedule for that project.

The funding for medians that is available this year has been identified for Hillcrest and 720 west of the Toll Road. I believe that City Council shares your view that the corridors to our City need to be enhanced and look as good as possible. These projects will need to be funded through a future budget item or some other funding mechanism.

Thank you for your response. Am I correct in saying that there is funding available for Preston or some of Preston for landscape?

I am sure that if asked, you may get some Frisco volunteers to help with the installation of landscaping material. I know I am looking forward to having the corridors landscaped. This is a project that helps everyone in Frisco feel proud of their city. Did I just volunteer myself?

I appreciate the offer to volunteer for this type of project; I will consider this when the plans are finalized. I am not sure how much volunteer work can be utilized for a median landscaping project. The trees we will be planting will be large and will be lifted with a tractor; we will also utilize a tractor to dig the holes. There is also the concern of safety in a median project. There is a limited amount of room to work in and cars will be traveling in close proximity.

The City is working towards establishing a tree farm and we could very much use some volunteer help with this project. If you are interested please contact me at (972) 335-5540 Ext 159.

Yes, you are correct there is some money set aside for the landscaping along Preston Road. The City is working with TxDOT in an attempt to receive a grant from the State to stretch these funds further. This work should start in the Fall of this year.

I will help as well if needed. I think that would be a great project for the people in Frisco much like the clean up program we have here. They should pick a street that the citizens can do on there own to make them feel even more apart of Frisco. How can we get this started or would there be too much liability working so close to the road? We could have a professional telling us what to do to make it look they way it should. Any other takers out there.

Thanks Jason
