The sidewalk along Sheperds Hill adjacent to the new Sheperds Glen Park is covered in mud from erosion. The erosion fence was removed for final grading I assume but that was quite some time ago. They have laid out temporary irrigation but that has only made the problem worse considering that the pipes now cross the sidewalk. It seems that in the area along the sidewalk either sod or seed netting should have been installed. Can someone please address this situation? This sidewalk does provide access to Gunstream Elementary. Thank you.

Ken,

Thanks for your note about the need to have the sidewalk cleaned along the access way to Gunstream Elementary.

We will contact the contractor for the park job to ensure that it is cleaned and accessible. Should you see anything of this nature again, please feel free to let our staff know and we will address it as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Is there a tentative date as to when the park will be completed? Thanks.

Frisco Texan,

Thanks for your note. Based on current progress of the Shepherds Glen park site, I would anticipate that the project will be completed early this summer. This will primarily be due to the establishment of grass that will be taking place after May 1, 2006.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,

This park looks to be completed. There is a structure in the playground area that appears to spray water for the kids to play at. Also, there is a water fountain. When will the water be turned on for these? Will the sprinkler have certain hours? Is there a way for users to turn it on?

Marc,

First of all, my apologies for my delay in getting you a response to your question about Shepherds Glen park site.

The park project is actually not complete at this time. The contractor is trying to complete the park in establishing grass in certain areas of the park before the project will be accepted.

One of the challenges that he has faced has been a rash of vandalism with the above ground temporary irrigation in place at the park. That is the reason for the current fencing in place in hopes that this measure will help to curb that vandalism.

As far the water elements at the park, regular water fountains should be turned on once the park has been officially approved by the City. We are hopeful that this will occur in the next 1-2 months.

No determination of operational hours for the spray elements have been decided at this point. As you know, we monitor the current water conservation restrictions and will take this into account when the park is completed and approved. Once these elements are operational, there are touch pads in place that will actually activate the system for a period of about 3-5 minutes before shutting down and requiring someone to push the touch pad again.

Hopefully, weather conditions will allow for use of the system later this summer.

Should you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
