First of all, thanks for your note and questions regarding a possible park site near the Heather Ridge development. I believe that the park site you are referring to is one that we have identified for the time being as the Cottonwood Creek Linear Park. This 100+ acre site lies along the north and south portion of Cottonwood Creek from just to the west of Wakeland High School westward to Teel Road.
For the past several months, we have been working with the developer near this area to acquire this property and it is our hope to begin some initial development of the site within the next several months. While primarily a passive park, this site will have elements such as hike and bike trails, picnic areas, and open spaces along the creek corridor. This site will likely be developed over more than just one phase of work.
To get a clearer picture of what development components are included in the park site, I am forwarding your note to Dudley Raymond, who is our Parks Planning and Capital Projects Superintendent so that he can provide a response to you. Dudley oversees projects such as these.
If I can be of any additional service to you, please feel free to let me know.
