I live very close to Fairways Green Park (located in the El Dorado Fairways sub-division).

Is there any type of controls or checks in place for the youth sports teams that use this and other parks for practice? I have noticed some of the teams are damaging our parks. People are parking trucks on the park grounds, littering (including throwing cigarrette butts on the ground, which is dangerous in today's environment).

I am happy to have sports teams in our neighbourhood but this type of treatment of our local park is both disrespectful to the residents and to the City who will have to pay to fix the damage caused.

Thank you for your note and comments about the Fairways Green neighborhood park site. We are actually working with the HOA Board in regard to the comments that you have mentioned in your note.

We typically have a very positive relationship with all of the youth athletic associations that utilize our parks for games and practices.

Unfortunately, we do have a small number of parents, spectators and others who choose to not present a positive image for themselves, their team or association. We will contact all of the organizations that utilize this and other park sites in the community to have them address this directly.

I will also advise our parks maintenance group to check on the park to ensure that trash and litter are picked up.

If you should have any further questions, please feel free to let me or our staff know. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
