Storm runoff from Exide goes into Stewart Creek. That means 50 years worth of lead contamination has been going into this waterway. My understanding is that lead contamination has been confirmed along Stewart Creek near the wastewater treatment plant at 4th Army and Lebanon. Has soil and silt testing been performed in the Grand Park or SW Regional Park areas? If not, is testing planned along Stewart Creek considering that these are recreational areas where children will be playing?

Actually, the problem area is the old wastewater treatment plant site which is located along Stewart Creek just west of and adjacent to the railroad. Additional testing of Stewart Creek will be conducted prior to the construction of Grand Park. A series of lakes are proposed along Stewart Creek, thus a large amount of excavation will be occurring in and adjacent to the creek.
