I know there are already plans to expand Eldorado with additional lanes, but the traffic at Eldorado and Coit is already very bad in the mornings with school traffic. Is there any plans to open Kingsville (in Panther Creek Estates) to Coit to allow for more efficient traffic flow to and from the middle school without using Eldorado?

Yes, Kingsville Drive and Tyler Drive will both extend to Coit Road when a new residential subdivision is built north of Maus Middle School. The developer has submitted plans for building this neighborhood, which are currently under review. While I can't speak for the developer's timeline, I would guess that these roads might be connected sometime during the 2011-2012 school year.

In addition, there is a new residential subdivision being designed on the east side of Coit. This developer will construct half of Coit Road up to Westridge and also construct half of Westridge going east. This will eventually give traffic the option of leaving the area by going north and east and thereby reduce some of the traffic at the intersection of Coit & Eldorado. Also, this new stretch of Coit will give people in Panther Creek Estates the option of using the dirt road portion of Panther Creek Parkway to reach Coit Road to reach the school if they wish. (Residents should only use the dirt road if it is dry).

As a followup announcement on this issue, the City has initiated plans to install two temporary traffic signals on Eldorado Parkway; one at Hillcrest Road and one at Coit Road.

The traffic signals are expected to be operational by the end of the summer.
