During the current construction on the field lighting and playground on the north side of BF Phillips Park, it appears the irrigation has been turned off. All of the trees along the perimeter of both Trail Side Drive and Timber Ridge Road are either dying or dead because of this. Is there any way they can receive temporary irrigation until the construction is complete? It looks like a terrible waste to have so many large caliper trees die.

Dear Mr. Elrewein,

I spoke with the contractor this morning and by noon today they were watering all of the trees in question via water truck and will continue to do so until the sprinkler system is up and running. I met with the contractor’s irrigator at the same meeting. Hopefully, they will have water operable to those areas within a couple of days. This past weekend’s heat certainly didn’t help. A lot of the trees in the area you mentioned are not dead, just dry. Other’s will have to be replaced.

I am aware of the situation and will keep monitoring the progress daily until the trees that are stressed have regained their health or any dead ones will be replaced by the contractor.

If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 972.292.6514

Since the topic of BF Phillips Park is on the Board, I have a further question. Is it possible that once this next park phase completes, with the added parking lots that have been paved on both Trail Side and Timber Ridge, will the City place "No Parking Anytime" signs up and down Trail Side Drive "Street" the entire length, on both sides of Trail Side Drive "Street"?

Once additional parking lots are available at the park, we do plan to study the parking situation on the surrounding streets and would add some No Parking signs as necessary. This would likely involve posting more No Parking signs along Trail Side Drive. We do not plan to post No Parking on both sides of the street, but it is very possible that we will post No Parking along the entire length of the west side of Trail Side Drive.
