The documents on the city's website that discuss the placement of an accessory building like a shed are confusing at best. I'd like to put a 12 ft by 8 ft shed in my backyard but need to know where I can put it so that I can draw up the plot to get the permit. I have an oversized backyard so I have plenty of space, just want to do it right the first time.

Please visit the link below to find the regulations for placement of accessories structures. There are pictures to help visualize the requirements. The main considerations for location are the properties of your lot. Is there an alley or open space 50 or greater or does your house back to another property? Is there enough space to place the structure 10 or greater from the house? In no situation can the structure be located in the required side yard.

I can give you specific requirements of your lot if you want to email your address or call me.
