What is the plan for completing the College Parkway Trail? The Parks section of this website talks about a 2007 completion. That was not acurate I guess. Is there a link to the design of the park?

Thanks

Ken,

Thank you for your note regarding the College Parkway Hike and Bike trail. First of all, thank you for letting me know about the incorrect information on the website. I will ask our staff to move to correct this.

In regard to the trail timeline, we continue to work with the utility company that is in ownership of the easement along this area to develop an agreement that will allow our ability to construct a trail through this area.

Once that agreement has been put into place, we will finalize design on the trail and submit for their approval. As far as a design, this will be a fairly simple development with the trail and associated landscaping that is allowable by the utility company near a utility easement of this type.

We are hopeful that this will be resolved within the next few weeks so we can begin moving forward. Once this has occured, I will have a better grasp of what timing will be taking place.

Should you have any additional questions regarding this, please let me know.

Thanks again for your note and interest.

Ken,

We have received information back from the utility company on the progress of our request to place the trail within their easement.

We are attempting to take a revision to the contract for engineering to City Council that will allow us to complete the design. Once this has been approved, we can complete the design and proceed with executing an agreement with the utility company and then have the trail constructed.

Even though we don't have a specific time in which the utility company will be finalizing this, we are hopeful that it will take place within the next several weeks.

Please feel free to contact me if you should have any additional questions.

Thanks again,

Ken,

Yes. We are presenting the encroachment agreement to City Council for their action in November and should have the project out to bid right around the end of the year.

Anthony,

It will be located in the power line easement stretching from College Parkway to Shepherds Hill Park. There will also be a segment of trail within the same easement constructed north of Canoe Road to connect to the existing trail just north of Port Road.

Anthony,

Due to the trail being in a power line easement, it will only be a concrete path. There will not be benches or water fountains. Those elements are located within the Park.

Anthony,

Thanks for your question about the status of the College Parkway H&B trail.

The plans are finished and Engineering is reviewing the plans. As soon as we receive approval from Engineering we will put the project out to bid.

The bidding process usually takes about six weeks to complete and once the bid is approved by the City Council, the project construction should start after that point.

Please let me know if you should have any additional questions.

Thanks,

The City has received bids and the project is within budget. It will take some time to develop and execute the contracts as well as have City Council act upon them. If the bid is accepted by and contracts are approved by City Council, the project should be completed by the end of summer.

Are there plans online that we can look at that show how the path is going to run?

Ken,

Thanks for the note. In regard to your question, no we do not have any plans on the College Parkway trail that are on our web site.

I can tell you that the trail runs in a north-south direction from College Parkway up to and past Rolater near Gunstream Elementary where there is an exisiting trail that will be intersected by this path. I believe that the trail will be somewhat centered through most of this length.

If you would like, you are welcome to contact our office and we will be more than happy to show you these at our offices.

Please feel free to contact Deanna Quigley at our office (972) 292-6511 and she will set up a time for you to come and review these,

Thanks again for your note.

Hi Rick -

Currently there is a small section of this trail between Port Rd and Canoe which is not paved. Will this plan include paving this section?

The new trail is very nice. Thank you. They have installed 1/4 mile markers on part of it. When is the remainder of the trail going to be marked as well.

Ken,

As you know the trail through the park and the section north of Port Road was existing. The consultant did not include markers for these sections in the construction drawings and we overlooked them. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. We will move forward with having them installed as soon as possible. It will probably take a couple of months before they will be installed as the markers will need to be fabricated.

Thank you,
Dudley Raymond
