I've noticed some new street signs going up that have lower-case letters and bigger typeface. I was wondering two things about them:
1. Why do some have the Frisco logo while others do not?
2. Will these signs be added throughout the city within a certain time frame or on an as-needed basis?

Traffic signs, including street name signs, are governed by Federal standards that ensure traffic control devices are uniform across the country. A new requirement was put in place about two years ago that changed the required font and the size of text on street name signs. The lower-case letters improve general readability and the larger letters improve readability for the larger percentage of older drivers. As old signs are replaced or new signs are installed, the newer style will be used.

In addition, the City decided to add the Frisco logo to street name signs in the downtown area (along Main Street in the original town area and in the Frisco Square area). The logo signs will not be installed on all street name signs in the city. However, when funding levels improve in the future, the City may choose to add the logos to the street name signs along one or more major thoroughfares.
