Jon,

Thanks for your note regarding the park development of the Crescent neighborhood park located in the Griffin Park development.

We are currently advertising for bid submittals for the park. Bids are expected to be opened in mid-March and reviewed for aproximately two weeks.

If the bid submittal is within the project budget for the park, staff will submit this for the City Council's consideration. I expect that this will take place in April and should Council approve this, I would expect that construction would take place about 45 days after Council consideration.

This allows the contractor to execute their contracts, obtain necessary surveying for the work and to begin mobilizing. Construction on a neighborhood park is typically about 4-6 months, which would place the completion of this park in the fall of 2008.

I hope that this has helped to clarify what the development of this site should be over the next several months.

If you should have any additional questions, please let me know.

Thanks again for your note and interest.

Brandy,

Thanks for your note about Crescent neighborhood park.

In answer to your question, yes the construction bid awared were approved by City Council at their May 20, 2008 meeting.

Based on that, the contractor for the project should start construction within the next 2-3 weeks.

If you should have any additional questions regarding this, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you,

Any updates on Crescent park? It looks like it is complete but the swings are locked and the sign stating it is still closed is still posted. When will it open?

Jon,

The contractor chained those up as you can imagine to keep kids off. Technically, the project is not finished and the contractor has some level of liability if someone would happen to get hurt. We are trying to hurry the contractor to get finished, but they have had a turnover in key personnel for this park within the last couple of weeks. We have met with them and they have assigned the task of completing the project to others within their organization. They are again making progress and should be finished soon.

As soon as the City accepts the Park the swings will be released.

Thank you,

Is this park officially opened? It seems the "under construction" sign has been removed but parts of the sidewalk continue to be ripped up. We would like to have a grand opening block party in the gazebo and would like to know when we can schedule.

Jon

The contractor tells us that he will have the concrete work completed by the end of the week. You should be able to schedule it sometime afterwards. We are glad to see that the park is being used and that the residents want to celebrate its opening.

Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.
