Many dates and start times have been thrown around for the start of construction on Eldorado (DNT to Preston), and Preston (Main to 380). Just doing a search, many of the dates I have found mentioned are listed below.

I realize much of the delay is due to TxDot, but it just seems like every so often we have been told that construction would begin within a certain time frame - only to be given a new time frame once that expires.

So, what is the status of these sections of road? When will contruction begin? How long will it take? And they are both going straight to 6 lanes, correct?

The widening of Eldorado Parkway between DNT and Preston to 6 lanes is expected to begin construction in early 2009. There are two reasons for the recent delays to this project. The first is that the project was originally scheduled to be constructed to 4 lanes and widened to 6 lanes in the future. Funding was identified to construct the 6 lane roadway now, so more time was needed to add the additional lanes to the construction plans. Also, an error was discovered in the drainage plans when the existing 2 lanes were constructed. The drainage system had to be reevaluated and additional design work was necessary. These design of these items are being completed and the Right of Way for the project is being acquired. We do not anticipate any further delays and we expect construction to begin in early 2009.

The widening of Preston Road to 6 lanes from Main Street to US 380 is a TxDOT project. The key reason in the delay of this project is the acquisition of the Right of Way for the project. TxDOT is required to follow federal regulations in the acquisition of Right of Way. As a result, the timeline for this process is difficult to predict. Nearly all of the Right of Way has now been acquired and TxDOT is bidding the project on October 15 (next week). You should begin to see utility relocations occurring in the next few weeks and TxDOT's contractor should begin work in Spring 2008, when the utility relocations are completed.

If the widening is going to happen soon, why is the development on Eldorado across from the Home Depot building a concrete entrance with what appears to be a concrete lane divider? The entrance and divider goes across what appears to the future eldorado lanes and connects with the existing 2 lane road.

All developments in Frisco are required to have two points of access to the site for fire protection. The driveway being placed across from Home Depot is required to maintain two points of access to the apartment complex. The driveway is being placed as non-reinforced concrete so the driveway can be easily removed during construction of Eldorado Pkwy.
