Is it legal to use Lethal Animal Traps within the residence limits, especially Kania 2000 sold by Animal Control Products? I couldn't find anything related to using lethal traps in the City of Frisco Animal Control Ordinance.

The traps mentioned in the question are prohibited. Only humane traps are allowed to be used in the City of Frisco. Please reference the ordinance below. The animal control division does have a limited amount of live traps that residents can borrow at no cost to trap nuisance squirrels and other small mammals. Please contact the animal control division at 972-292-5303 to get more information and to borrow a trap.

Sec. 14-20 Animal traps
(a) Only humane live animal traps may be used for capturing animals roaming unrestrained in the City of Frisco. The use of steel jaw traps to apprehend animals is illegal. As an exception to this section, government agencies and entities shall be permitted to use such traps and equipment as necessary and permitted by state law or regulation, as they currently exist or may be amended.
(b) No person shall remove, alter, damage or otherwise tamper with a trap or equipment set out by animal control or the City of Frisco’s agent(s).
(c) Animal control traps left at a site at the request of a property owner or other resident will be the responsibility of the property owner or resident. The property owner or resident will monitor the trap(s) each and every day and contact animal control if any animal(s) are captured. The property owner or resident will contact animal control within 24 hours in the event of an animal(s) capture for removal by an animal control officer. Damaged traps or missing traps will be reimbursed to the City of Frisco by the property owner or resident for replacement of the damaged or missing trap(s).
(Ordinance 08-01-06, sec. 20, adopted 1/15/08)
