After attending Grapefest for the first time this year, I was amazed at how vibrant the downtown area seemed. There are many shops and restaurants lining Main Street, not to mention all the booths set up (for the event). Does Frisco plan on having similar events where Main Street will be utilized (I understand that Frisco Square has annual events, but they are not close to downtown)? Also, what is the plan for bringing vibrant business to the downtown corridor?

The City Council appointed a Downtown Advisory Board several years ago to assist in downtown revitalization. However, downtown revitalization does not occur unless you have property owners willing to invest time and funds. The City continually looks for ways to encourage business development, not only downtown but city wide.

The Downtown Merchants association is involved in putting together events for the downtown area. While Frisco Square does promote events of their own, the City holds two annual events in the Plaza in front of City Hall, Freedom Fest and Merry Main Street. The City does not currently hold any events in downtown, however there is always opportunity to bring celebrations there in the future.
