Hi I am from out of town looking to move to the Stonelake Estates subdivision. I was wondering when the proposed park there was going to be built and what it will be like.
Thank You

John,

Thanks for your question about the neighborhood park that is located in the Stonelake Estates development.

Your timing on asking about this park comes at a great time. We actually just went before the City Council this past month and received approval to enter into an agreement with a landscape architect to perform the master planning of this park.

The timing of this master planning will occur over the next 4-5 months and will include public meetings with local residents to provide input on potential elements that will be incorporated into the development of this park. Ultimately, the proposed master plan for the park will be approved by the Parks and Recreation Board and subsequently the City Council for final approval.

As far as development of this neighborhood park, we currently have funding in place for this to occur in 2008 with completion of this development likely late that same year.

Thanks again for your note and good luck to you and your family in coming to Frisco!

Please let me or our staff know if you should have any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Rick Wieland

I am a resident in the Stonelake Estates West subdivision and have seen a bit of construction (bulldozers, pickup trucks, stakes, etc.) in and around the designated park site. Can you give an update as to what is happening with this park?

Rich,

Thanks for your note regarding what I believe is the development of the Foncine Settlement neighborhood park that is located in the Frisco Heights/Stonelake Estates West development area.

This 7.0 acre neighborhood park was acquired in 2003, with master planning of the park taking place in 2006.

Construction of this neighborhood park began in June with surveying activity and the placement of erosion control taking place first. With the abundance of rainfall during the month of June and beginning of July, site grading had a chance to just begun on the project and will continue for several weeks.

Based on this, I would anticipate that this project will continue for another 6-8 months, with completion probably taking place in the winter of 2008.

I hope that this helps to provide some insight to the project. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Stonelake Estates Park - At the September 5th neighborhood meeting, we were told a survey would be taken concerning the park (specifically the basketball or tennis court question). Has the survey been created or distributed to the Stonelake Estate and Custer Creek Farms neighborhoods?

Chip,

The survey was delayed due to some logistical issues. We are currently printing them and they should be mailed by Friday the 21st.

Thank you

Any updates on the Stonelake Estates Park?
Has the decision been made on the basketball or tennis court? And when will the construction of the park begin?

PS,

Thanks for your note about the latest status of the park master plan for the neighborhood park located in the Stonelake Estates development.

As mentioned in previous threads, residents in both Stonelake Estates as well as Custer Creek Estates were sent a survey asking for resident input on the addition of a tennis court or a an outdoor basketball court take place on the master plan and ultimately developed as a part of the park.

Deadline for the survey to be returned to the City occured on this past Tuesday.

Staff will take the results of this survey along with the original recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Board to the City Council for final consideration in all likelyhood during their October 16th meeting.

If approved, staff will be move forward to provide for construction design and ultimate construction documents for the park's construction.

Construction of the park is currently scheduled to take place in 2008.

Please feel free to let me know if you should have any additional questions.

Thanks again for your note and interest.
