Why are we installing a light at that intersection?
When I drive by every day, there aren't very many cars there?
Why don't we have a light at Shady Shores and Main
if we have one at the other intersection?

Studies were conducted that showed a traffic signal was warranted at Main and Trails. Prior to making a decision to authorize a signal for this location, further study of the area was done because of the nearby intersections. Since Shady Shore is only about 500' from Trails Parkway, they are too close together to have one at each location. So why choose Trails Parkway? The Trails intersection was chosen because it is more difficult to make a left-turn onto an arterial street than it is to make a right-turn. Left-turn volumes from Shady Shores were fairly low in comparison to left-turn volumes on the Trails. Most of the Shady Shore traffic makes a right-hand turn and travels east. These patterns are what we expected to see and what is expected in the future since most of the traffic will be going towards the tollway.
