Hi, would it be possible to mow the undeveloped park area that sits in Frisco Heights a little more often. For one thing it is unsightly and for another the kids could actually play ball or something out there if it were mowed.

Thank you.

Rhonda,

Thanks for your message regarding the mowing of what I believe is the Foncine Settlement neighborhood park. First of all, let me say that our staff is currently trying to catch up on all of the mowing that is needed with the recent rainfall that we have experienced. That should be addressed within the next few days.

Additionally, you might not be aware of this, but actually this park site is very close to being developed, beginning this summer.

When originally bid in March, the bids for this project came in higher than expected. Based on the fact that only one bidder provided a bid on this project at the time, staff re-bid this project in hopes that additional bids would be received.

Upon opening the new set of bids a couple of weeks ago, it was found that the project bid fell within the projected budget for the park's development and staff is asking for the City Council to consider that item for the May 15, 2007 meeting.

Based on this, I would anticipate that construction of the park would commence in the summer of 2007 and continue for a 6-8 month process.

Should you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Ed,

Thanks for your note. Yes, the City Council approved the project award for the Foncine Settlement neighborhood park this past Tuesday (May 15, 2007).

Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me or our staff know.

When will the paths at the north end of Frisco Commons be mowed again? The paths from Kent and Cori to the sidewalks are pretty much overgrown.

Also, are there any plans for a sidewalk from either Kent or Cori to the existing sidewalk? I feel quite a few more people would walk to the park from this neighborhood if a sidewalk was available.

Steve,

I will schedule a crew to mow the path areas this coming week. The master plan for Frisco Commons does show connecting trails to the existing sidewalks.

However, there are no immediate plans in place to develop the north end of the park. If you would like to voice your opinion on the need for these connections you are welcome to attend a Parks and Recreation Board meeting any time.

The Board meets the second Thursday of each month and a time is set aside for citizen appearances to propose such items. Meetings are normally held at the George Purefoy Municipal Center at 6:30 p.m.

Please feel free to contact our office (972-335-6500) for specific meeting information or contact me directly if you have future park related questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Bob Johnson
