I was wondering if there are any ordinances that require homeowners to maintain their vegetation. I share a fence with my neighbor. They have very fast growing plants lining the fence. About every 2 weeks, the plants are so long that I have to duck under them to walk through my side yard. I have asked the neighbor to keep them trimmed. They won't. So every 2 weeks I trim them.

Am I stuck doing this or can the city do something?

Code Enforcement received your inquiry regarding vegetation that encroaches a common property line/fence.

Adjacent property owners do not have access to maintain vegetation on another persons property. Therefore, property owners who experience encroaching vegetation may maintain the vegetation that crosses over (or through) a shared property line/fence.

If you have addtional questions, you may contact Code Enforcement at (972) 335.5580, #188.
